Total Divas created animosity among the hardcore WWE fans. The fact that Nikki Bella is under a week away from breaking AJ Lee’s Divas championship record reign frustrates the fans who enjoy pure women’s wrestling in the WWE. Even though Bella has worked hard to try and get better, the Internet Wrestling Community wants to see Bayley, Sasha Banks, Charlotte, and Becky Lynch wrestle for the strap.
Those fans may get what they want earlier than expected. As Charlotte and Nikki Bella prepare for their match on WWE RAW, it will remain to be seen if Charlotte takes the Divas championship and ends Bella’s reign one day short of the record. WWE outlets reported that it is rumored to take place, so don’t be surprised if Charlotte wins the belt beforehand.
Moving back to Total Divas, it’s still creating controversy among the WWE Universe and in the mainstream media. Many sites are talking about a recent bar fight that Paige and Alicia Fox got in. While the media believed it to be a real fight involving the WWE divas, Ringside News is reporting that it was a part of a Total Divas angle.
“While TMZ normally doesn’t pick up on ‘storyline’ related article, it appears that may have been part of an upcoming segment for Total Divas . Bryan Alvarez mentioned on yesterday’s installment of Wrestling Observer Live that he was told by one source that it wasn’t a segment, however another source informed him that it was indeed for Total Divas . Hopefully we will get some clarification shortly.”
Paige and Fox haven’t got into trouble during their WWE tenure, so it was a bit outlandish when first reported that they engaged into a bar fight. Total Divas is a reality television show, which is life portrayed in an exaggerated manner. As far as the WWE’s reality show is concerned, there are real-life happenings taking place.
However, most of the scenes shot are either fixed or pre-planned. The Bellas will always be a fixation of WWE TV until Total Divas isn’t relevant anymore. They still will have an influence after that, but having the reality show helps their popularity and WWE’s cross-promotion to new demographics. Being on the E! Network is doing the WWE a big favor.
Pure wrestling fans aren’t a fan, but that’s not what running a business is all about. WWE is doing the appropriate actions by catering to more audiences. If non-WWE fans watch Total Divas and enjoy it, then perhaps it will give them a motive to watch the main product, too. Whatever Total Divas is doing, it’s working.
