A woman’s fall at Royal Gorge ended in her death, and police are calling the incident a tragic accident although suicide has not been completely ruled out as of yet. Police are still investigating the incident and foul play is not suspected.

“At this time, the fall appears to be accidental with no foul play suspected,” a police statement reads.

The identity of the 44-year-old woman who plummeted 400 feet to her death has not yet been released. According to a report from Reuters , citing information from authorities, the woman fell from an observation deck overlooking the Royal Gorge canyon in the mountains of south-central Colorado.

The last place the woman was last seen alive at was near an observation point on the north side of the Royal Gorge on Monday evening. Authorities scoured the area in search of the woman, but they eventually had to call off the search when it became too dark.

The following morning, a search team discovered the woman’s lifeless body in a ravine near the observation point. This story is still developing, and any further updates will be posted to this column as they are made available.
