An Irish woman living in London found a 20 euro note in her bag and discovered it had a love letter scribbled across it. She then posted a photo of the note on Facebook to try and track the lovers down.

The Facebook post, including an image of the 20 euro love letter, went viral as romantics shared the post in the hope of tracking down the author of the note and if possible, the intended recipient.

“Christy, it’s always been you!

Come and find me.

– Megan x”

She posted the image of the 20 euro note , complete with the love letter, along with the comment: “Found this in my purse this morning!!! Ah Christy She [hearts] you!!!!! Go get ur girl!!!!! Come on people and share!!!”

It took one day and 16,000 shares for the post to reach Christy Leech, who commented to say he’d been in touch with Megan and that all was well.

People still wanted to know the whole story, however, so Today FM interviewed Christy to find out the whole story behind the 20 euro love letter . He explained by email that Megan was the name he used to call his former girlfriend.

“We went out for a year and a half. The name arose from when I misheard her name and thought she was Megan for our first week of dating. Then it stuck.”

Christy said he is a musician and while he and Megan were going out, he wrote her a song called “It’s Always Been You.”

“We broke up, she met someone new. After I saw the 20 euro note on a FB post, I called her.”

According to Irish Central , Megan told Christy she had written the love letter on a 20 euro note she used to pay to enter one of his gigs around six months ago.

It turns out Christy didn’t know she was there and Megan said that she thought he would get the cash (and thus the love letter) directly, but he didn’t.

While she waited in vain for him to come and find her at the gig, he never did, and Megan assumed that he just didn’t want to talk to her.

However, Christy says now they’re in touch again and that “the situation is quite different.” Hopefully, the result is that the lovers have been reunited by the viral post on Facebook.
