A New Mexico woman who showed up at the scene of her husband’s drunk driving stop was herself arrested there for DUI.

The husband was initially pulled over for speeding by a Santa Fe County sheriff’s deputy outside a local sports bar. According to the police report , “an odor of an intoxicating beverage emitted from the drivers expelled breath,” and a DUI investigation commenced.

Someone in the sports bar called his wife who headed over to the location with her son, age 11, in the car.

One of the officers reportedly also smelled alcohol on the woman upon her arrival, KRQE News 13 in Albuquerque reported . Upon being asked by one of the officers if she had been drinking that day, she indicated that she had consumed two glasses of wine.

In addition to failing field sobriety testing, the woman reportedly blew a.15 on a breathalyzer which was about twice the legal limit, which in most states is.08.

“It kind of questions judgement right? When you have someone who’s showing up at a scene with police officers – drunk,” a sheriff department spokesman observed. “Driving impaired is reckless, and when you have another person in the car, it only exacerbates the situation.”

Cops arrested both spouses on charges of driving while intoxicated, and they were subsequently booked into the Santa Fe County Jail. A family member took custody of the son temporarily. The wife, identified by KRQE as Cherity Roybal-Vigil, 41, was subsequently released, but husband James Quintana, 47, who is facing his sixth DUI arrest, is apparently still being held in jail. According to police, he was operating his vehicle without a license or insurance.

Elsewhere in Santa Fe, police say that a 20-year-old driver fled on foot from the scene of an accident last week, leaving behind an injured passenger in her car as well as the injured driver of the other vehicle. After being tracked down, she was charged with DUI and other offenses.

In Santa Fe last month, actor and Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Sam Shepard was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving.

In an unrelated drunk driving incident, a Boston criminal defense lawyer who specializes in defending DUI clients pleaded not guilty on June 1 to drunk boating-related charges in an alleged incident in which a 19-year-old woman tragically lost her arm.
