While rap star Wiz Khalifa was performing for a sold-out show in California on Friday night, a man was gunned down backstage. People reports that a 38-year-old man died of multiple gunshot wounds and the shooter is still at large.

Khalifa was on stage performing at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountainview in front of 22,000 people when the shooting occurred shortly after 11 pm. TMZ reports that the victim was shot five times. Police have yet to release the name of the victim and there is an active investigation underway to find the gunman.

Mountain View Police spokeswoman Shino Tanaka told reporters that police are looking for a black male in his mid-20s in connection with the shooting. The suspected gunman is between 5’6? and 5’8? tall and was wearing a black shirt, white pants, and a red baseball hat. KRON 4 News reports that the shooter’s gun was a “pistol with a large magazine.”

Anyone who attended the Wiz Khalifa concert and has video or photos of the backstage area is asked to contact the police immediately at 650-903-6395 or by email to [email protected]. Police stated on Friday that they do not believe that Khalifa is connected to the shooting death of the man who was backstage. It is unknown if the victim was attending the concert or working backstage when he was killed.

TMZ states that their source saw the gunman and the victim backstage towards the end of Khalifa’s performance. Surveillance video may help police get a better look at the shooter, as the source stated that two men were spotted arguing in a dark hallway prior to the shooting.

Authorities held a number of people who were backstage at the time of the shooting, some as long as three hours. There are no reports at this time that indicate Wiz Khalifa , who is currently on tour with Young Jeezy, was held for questioning.
