Excitement is starting to build for this year’s American Music Awards, especially as more performers and hosts are announced. Last week, it was announced that Selena Gomez would be performing her hit song “Wolves” for the first time at this year’s ceremony, which will air on November 19 at 8 p.m. EST. Now, more performers at the American Music Awards have been announced, and needless to say, fans couldn’t be happier.
In a press release put out by ABC, it was announced that pop stars Kelly Clarkson and Demi Lovato are also slated to perform at this year’s American Music Awards .
This announcement means that Clarkson and Lovato will be joining the likes of Selena Gomez, K-pop act BTS, and musical legend Diana Ross (who is doing a rare performance at the show).
Clarkson’s performance is in celebration of her newest album, Meaning of Life , which is also the first she’s releasing on Atlantic Records. She last performed at the American Music Awards in 2012, where she performed a medley of her hit songs “Miss Independent,” “Since U Been Gone,” “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You),” and “Catch My Breath.”
Lovato, meanwhile, is returning to the American Music Awards to promote her new album, Tell Me You Love Me . She recently released the first single off that album, “Sorry Not Sorry,” to much critical and commercial acclaim. Lovato was last seen on the show in 2015, where she performed her smash single “Confident” and joined rock icon Alanis Morisette for a rendition of the grunge classic “You Oughta Know.”

As if all this American Music Awards news isn’t exciting enough, K-pop fans are squeeing and tweeing over the fact that BTS will be performing on the American Music Awards for the first time ever. The Hollywood Reporter states that the pop stars will be performing their hit song “DNA” for the first time ever for a mainstream American audience. And though they’ve appeared at American awards shows before — having made their debut at this year’s Billboard Music Awards — their AMA performance will be the first time they’ll be performing at an American awards show.
