What Not To Wear has been canceled after 10 seasons, TLC announced Wednesday.
The long-running makeover show, which is hosted by Stacy London and Clinton Kelly, will be ending its decade-long run in July 2013.
Amy Winter, TLC EVP and general manager, said in a statement:
“After 10 incredible seasons, we felt that it was the right time to end the series. Stacy and Clinton have also become two of the most sought after fashion experts and TV personalities in the industry. We’re so proud to have had the two of them along with Carmindy and Ted as the glam squad behind this fan-favorite show, and the final episodes will definitely be a celebration of this monumental run.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter , the series will be returning to its Friday night time slot when season 10 returns in July. The final season will feature bigger ambushes and more dramatic transformations as well as bigger shopping sprees and guest appearances.
What Not To Wear is an American adaptation of a British series of the same name. The series premiered in January 2003, and 324 episodes have aired since then. According to EW, the series is the longest-running primetime show on TLC and helped launch the makeover reality show trend when it debuted 10 years ago.
London said What Not To Wear “changed the trajectory of my life.” She explained, “I’ve learned so much from all of our contributors over the years. I hope we touched them as much as they touched me. I hope we touched our viewers.”
London added that it “feels like the end of an era” and that she is looking forward to her “next chapter.”
Kelly had a similar sentiment, saying:
“Hosting WNTW has been a life-changing experience. When I got the job, I told everyone I knew that we’d probably do 10 episodes, get canceled and I’d go crawling back to my old job in magazine publishing. So, I’m more surprised than anyone that we’ve lasted this long.”
Kelly added that the series is “about taking stock of who you are and communicating that non-verbally to the rest of the world. That’s incredibly empowering.”
