It seems like everyone’s watching what they drink. New York City just approved a ban on sugary drinks and Weight Watchers has just endorsed a line of low calorie diet wines.

Weight Watchers recently endorsed a line of diet wines from McWilliams. As of now, the four bottles include: Harmony Sparkling Brut NV, Harmony Semillon/Sauvignon Blanc, Harmony Shiraz and Ezzenze Vine Dancer Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. The wines have less calories than traditional wines but they also have less alcohol.

According to CalorieCount.com , a glass of red table wine has about 150 calories. A bottle of non-diet wine also contains about 10-14% ABV. The Weight Watchers wine will have 6-10 ABV but less calories. The exact calorie information isn’t available yet but McWilliams said in a press release that all of the nutritional information will be clearly labeled on the back of the bottle. The bottle’s will also be given a Weight Watchers ProPoint value.

Lloyd Stephens, McWilliams export director, told Harpers :

“This is a real departure for wine and it gives us the potential to get in to the mainstream grocery basket. The power of linking up with the Weight Watchers name, which is the 14th biggest grocery brand in the UK, is pretty exciting and a real no brainer.”

Neil Murray, licensing manager at Weight Watchers UK, added:

“Australia and New Zealand are clear growth categories and this partnership is about making dining and entertaining choices wider and easier for those consumers who we know are looking to make healthier choices.”

For Americans on Weight Watchers the inclusion of wine may seem like a new direction for the company. The Huffington Post notes, however, that the weight loss program has been dealing with wines in Australia since 2010.
