The Gretzky mansion, location in the exclusive Thousand Oaks area, is quite an exquisite home, the Toronto Star noted. The 10-year-old property sits on 6.5 acres in a gated community called Westlake Village, a place popular with celebrities because of its high security.
The mansion Wayne Gretzky is selling has a number of features, including five bedrooms, a pool, library, a sunken tennis court, and pizza oven. The mansion was specially designed for Wayne Gretzky by Richard Landry, who also designed opulent houses for celebrities including Sylvester Stallone and Tom Brady.
There seems to be some confusion as the the ownership. While sources like Yahoo! Sports say Wayne Gretzky is selling the mansion, NESN and others report that the ownership changed in 2002.
After Gretzky originally sold the home, it was purchased by former New York Mets star Lenny Dykstra, who reportedly trashed the home before it was taken in a foreclosure.
The news that Wayne Gretzky is selling his mansion coincides with reports that he may be taking a job as president of the Toronto Maple Leafs. Though there’s no report of whether Gretzky has looked for real estate near Toronto, the rumors are swirling around Toronto that he could take his NHL executive skills to the Maple Leafs.
