Brad Keselowski has been tearing up the track in qualifying runs all season long. In 13 races, Keselowski has started in the top five an astounding 10 times, according to a report on nascar.com . What’s better, he’s turned those solid qualifying positions into even more solid finishing positions, with one win – at the Kobalt 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway – four top five finishes, and five top ten finishes. Couple that with finishing every race he’s started this year, Brad Keselowski is in the Chase for the Cup and is sitting ninth in the point standings. Oh, and did we mention, he’s starting today’s NASCAR FedEx 400 Benefiting Autism Speaks at the pole position.

Keselowski not only took the pole at the NASCAR FedEx 400, but he also set a track qualifying record for the track at Dover. According to a report on nascar.com , Brad attested much of his success in breaking the record at Dover to improvements made in NASCAR Sprint Cup cars in general:

“The cars are built a lot differently than they were last year. Ford has done a great job catching up (thanks) to the front nose piece. They kind of got left behind on that one. Then, when the Gen-6 car came out, we were allowed to catch up for 2014. The bigger rear spoiler and the ride height rule. The bigger spoiler adds a significant amount. The cars make more grip by a long shot than what they ever have – 2,600-2,800 pounds of downforce last year to about 3,200 now. That’s a significant increase.”

Points leader Jeff Gordon will be starting in the sixth position. Jimmy Johnson , fresh off his first win of the season at the Coca Cola 600 and sixth in the point standings , will be starting fourth. Other drivers starting towards the front of the pack include Kyle Busch starting second, Joey Logano starting third, and Kyle Larson starting fifth. Kurt Busch, who attempted “The Double” by running both the Indy 500 and the Coca-Cola 600 last week but was stopped short with a blown engine , is starting in the 24th position. Danica Patrick , who uncharacteristically hasn’t crashed in a while , will be starting the NASCAR FedEx 400 Benefiting Autism Speaks in the 28th position.
