Racing fans can watch the Daytona 500 live online on Sunday and see the return of the No. 3 car for the first time since Dale Earnhardt’s 2001 crash.

The race is being broadcast on Fox at 1 pm, and is also available for online streaming.

Fans who watch the Daytona 500 live online will get to see the first return of the No. 3 car since the tragic death of Dale Earnhardt. Pole winner Austin Dillon of Earnhardt-Childress Racing is set to bring the number out of retirement as the Sprint Cup rookie races in the No. 3, which Richard Childress had refused to field since Earnhardt’s accident.

Dillon, Childress’ 23-year-old grandson, took the top spot in the race with a lap at 196.019 mph at the season opener.

“The 3 is special to all of us; the family, the Earnhardt family, to every one of us,” Childress said. “But I think it’s special because Austin, our family is in the car. The emotion will fly if the 3 rolls in there on Sunday. I won’t hold it back, I promise.”

Dillon said he understands the pressure of racing with the No. 3 car, and says he’s ready for the Daytona 500.

“Everybody wants to see this number perform well, and that’s what my goals are,” Dillon said. “I love getting in that race car and driving it. I think once we get through some of these races here at the beginning of the year, everything will sink in and I’ll get comfortable and be able to have some fun.”

Those who watch the Daytona 500 live online will get to see a front row dominated by the Earnhardt-Childress Racing team. Martin Truex Jr. qualified second with a lap at 195.852 mph. Truex’s engine is built by Earnhardt-Childress Racing.

“Obviously without that thing under the hood, we wouldn’t be where we are,” Truex said.

Other contenders for the Daytona 500 include Matt Kenseth, racing in the No. 20 for Joe Gibbs Racing. After a runner-up finish in points last year, Kenseth could look to get 2014 off to a strong start by winning his third Daytona 500.
