Viewers can watch David Letterman’s last episode live online and see how the host of the Late Show says goodbye after 31 years.

The longtime host is closing out his duties on the Late Show with a three-night goodbye, one that started Monday with Tom Hanks appearing and Eddie Vedder performing. His final show will come on Wednesday, May 20, starting at 11:35 p.m. ET.

Letterman’s last announced guest will be the same as his very first guest more than three decades ago, actor Bill Murray . This will be quite a familiar guest, as Murray has been on Letterman’s show a total of 43 times over the last 33 years.

On Murray’s first appearance in Letterman’s very first episode – back when the show was on NBC – he famously told Letterman: “You got out of Indianapolis and didn’t look back. I’m just waiting for the other shoe to fall on you, man, and I want to be there when it hits the floor! I had a chance to strangle Richard Nixon and I didn’t — and I regret it!” As he nears his final stretch Letterman has welcomed a number of friends and longtime guests , including Don Rickles, Julia Roberts, Adam Sandler, and even President Bill Clinton. George Clooney showed up and tried to handcuff himself to Letterman in an attempt to keep the late night host from retiring.Letterman even got funnyman Norm Macdonald to take a serious tone when remembering the impact of his friend and fellow comedian.

“This will be my last time on the David Letterman show, I understand,” Macdonald said as he told a story about the first time he saw Letterman perform.

“Mr. Letterman is not for the mawkish, and he has no truck for the sentimental,” Macdonald said. “If something is true, it is not sentimental. And I saw in truth, I love you.”

Those who want to watch David Letterman’s final show live online will have to tune in to find out who will be guest starring. The network hasn’t announced any guests, but said there will be surprises and a final Top Ten list. Viewers who want to watch David Letterman’s last episode live online will be able to get streaming video through the CBS All Access page, and there’s good news — it’s absolutely free.
