Reports have emerged that Christopher Reeve, who starred as Superman from 1978 until 1987, made a posthumous appearance in Zack Snyder’s Man Of Steel.

Reeve’s face was apparently digitally imposed over the new lead actor of the series, Henry Cavill’s, face, for a split second of the movie.

It is believed that Zack Snyder, the director of the Man Of Steel , sneaked this tribute into the film due to his love and appreciation of the actor.

Reeve died in 2004 due to heart failure. This was after he spent almost a decade being paralysed from the shoulders down after he was injured during an equestrian event in Virginia.

Reeve spent the last years of his life as an advocate for spinal cord research, and became a world-wide treasure due to his fearless endeavours.

Neither Snyder, nor anyone connected to Man Of Steel, has confirmed whether or not this appearance is authentic, however there were rumours that Reeve would feature.

Man Of Steel has so far managed to be a box office success, having hauled in $125 million during its opening weekend, which is a record for June. Its star-studded cast included Henry Cavill, as the titular hero, as well as Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Russell Crowe as Superman’s father, Jor-El, and Michael Shannon as General Zod, the film’s antagonist.

Reeve is regarded as the quintessential incarnation of the character, and despite Man Of Steel’s success, Cavill hasn’t come close to eclipsing his efforts in 1978’s Superman, 1980’s Superman II , 1983’s Superman III, and finally, 1987’s Superman IV: The Quest For Peace.

Cavill and Reeve join the like of George Reeves, Dean Cain, Tom Welling, Mark Hamon, Brandon Routh, Tim Daly, George Newbern, and James Denton, each of whom have played the iconic character in one form or another.

Who is your favorite Superman? Did you noticed Reeve’s cameo?
