There are plenty of Walt Disney park attractions worth getting excited about in the upcoming years. The parks’ creators and engineers are working together to create an even better experience for the millions that visit Disney parks every year, and they’ve recently announced some new and exciting attractions for fans of the amusement centers. Here are just a few of those attractions.
Star Wars Land
Fans have been impatiently awaiting the announcement of the Star Wars- themed attraction that will be the newest addition to Disney’s landscape ever since the corporation bought the Lucasfilm franchise in 2012. This week they finally got their wish. Disney announced that they will be adding a 14-acre Star Wars Land to Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disneyland Park. This addition will make the largest expansion to date.
There has been little detail about what the expansion will include, but Disney has confirmed a new area that will allow guests access to the Millennium Falcon controls, and there will likely be new shops and the cantina from the original movie to set the mood. The opening date for this attraction has not yet been released.
Toy Story Land
This exciting addition will be coming to Disney World in Florida as an 11-acre Toy Story Land . The addition will be set up to make you feel like a tiny toy in a human’s world as you wander around larger-than-life buildings. Guests will have the opportunity to ride a family-friendly roller coaster fashioned after the Slinky Dog and fly in a saucer spinning-style ride with “The Claw” looming overhead.
Frozen Ever After
With the high volume of attention garnered by the popular film Frozen , it’s no surprise that Walt Disney parks will be building a Frozen attraction. It will be much like the other family-friendly, film-themed rides that take you through a picturesque setting that could have come straight out of the film. The attraction will also be home to Princess Anna and Queen Elsa’s meet-and-greet stations.
An Expanded “Soarin’ Over California”
“Soarin’ Over California” has been a favorite California Adventure attraction ever since its inception in 2005, and now guests have even more to look forward to with a “Soarin’ Around the World” ride. The new ride will swap out the old 3-D experience to virtually take riders to some of the most amazing sites around the world, including the Golden Gate Bridge, Monument Valley in Arizona, an African savanna, and the Great Wall of China.
Avatar World
In 2017, guests will have another chance to explore the incredible world of Pandora , the setting of James Cameron’s Avatar . This attraction will breathe new life into the Animal Kingdom attraction at Disney parks. There will be tropical jungles, floating mountains, Na’vi aliens, and more. There will also be two new rides. One will be AVATAR Flight of Passage, which is a thrill ride that takes guests on the backs of Banshee creatures as they explore Pandora. The other will be a more family-friendly boat ride through Pandora’s rainforests.
Start saving up now because you’ll want to visit Disney’s parks when these attractions come out. Walt Disney has done it again for fans of the amusement parks with several new attractions worth getting excited about.
