Vin Diesel may still be heartbroken over the death of his friend Paul Walker, but on Sunday the actor had a bit of catharsis with fans — sharing the release date for Fast and Furious 7 in a tribute to Walker.

Diesel announced that Fast and Furious 7 will still have a 2015 release date , despite initial uncertainty that it could move forward after Walker’s tragic death in November.

In a Facebook note posted on Sunday night, Vin Diesel shared a picture of himself with Paul Walker and the words:

“The last scene we filmed together…

‘There was a unique sense of completion, of pride we shared… in the film we were now completing… the magic captured… and, in just how far we’ve come…”

Vin Diesel then gave fans of the Fast and Furious series some good news — the movie is slated for release on April 15, 2015.

Being able to release the information seemed very important to Diesel, who told fans that Walker “want you to know first” about the Fast and Furious 7 release date.

Vin Diesel has used Facebook to release his emotions in the past, sharing with fans a story about visiting Paul Walker’s mother after the actor’s death in a fiery car crash in November. Diesel said he bought a plane ticket to see Walker’s mother as soon as he learned about the crash.

“I thought they needed my strength, but realized when I got there and broke down before his family, that it was I who needed theirs,” Diesel wrote on Facebook . “His mother hugged me and said I am so sorry… I said sorry? You’re the mother who lost a son?… She said yes, but you lost your other half…”

Vin Diesel has since shared a number of photos of himself with Paul Walker, including many from the set of the Fast and Furious movies. His announcement of the Fast and Furious 7 release date will now give fans a solid date for a film that some thought could be scrapped after Walker’s death.
