Verne Troyer Hospitalized: ‘Austin Powers’ Actor In Treatment After Seizure

A seizure left Verne Troyer hospitalized as the actor was attending the Heart of Texas Comic Con today, one of many gatherings of all things nerdy and the fans who love them. Comic Cons are known as a way for famous actors such as William Shatner and Mark Hamill to join forces with a myriad of fans most likely dressed up as their favorite characters.

Troyer is the actor most famous for his portrayal of Mini-Me in the Austin Powers films, a character meant to be a clone of Mike Myers’ Dr. Evil (only one-eighth his size). He didn’t actually show up until The Spy Who Shagged Me , but his presence was made clear as the resilient victim of slapstick.

Much like Warwick Davis, Troyer’s stature as a little person gained him instant fame, but unlike Davis, the Austin Powers actor’s fame was achieved without heavy makeup or costumes. Only one role to date has had the actor in that level of disguise, and that was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone , where he played the role of Griphook the Goblin. His scene was where Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) discovered he was actually rich, and where we first caught a hint of “you know what.”

Thankfully the seizure didn’t take Verne Troyer down as hard as his role in the ill-received The Love Guru , and his medical tests have come back normal . He is currently doing fine, and has expressed his appreciation on Twitter for the concern shown by his fans.

Everything’s ok guys. Thanks for the concern

It is unknown if Troyer will reprise his role as Mini-Me, as rumors have surfaced of a fourth Austin Powers movie. Screen Rant claims that Mike Myers is set for a sequel. There is no indication of this on the Internet Movie Database , but Troyer does have some roles in upcoming movies such as Gnome Alone and The 420 Movie: Mary & Jane .

Verne Troyer is okay after his seizure at the Heart of Texas Comic Con, and his fans are overjoyed.
