Van Halen is reportedly working on an album that will be released in the middle of 2015. In a recent interview, David Lee Roth admitted that he and Eddie Van Halen are currently working on a project which is expected to take 18 months to complete.

Roth said he and Van Halen are “starting to put music together” for the album. However, the details will take more than a year to complete. The iconic rocker said the process will be lengthy, as the band members want everything to be perfect:

“… we are eminently art-centric… we really do generate all the artwork, the graphics, etc. We don’t hire out and have somebody design a bunch of album covers for us… we start from scratch ourselves… if you buy a t-shirt, that was designed, literally, in my living room.”

Roth also hinted at the possibility of a 2015 tour. He said the 18-month process will include “stage design, lighting rig, [and] putting the show together.” As reported by Ultimate Classic Rock , the band has been rehearsing up to three times per week to prepare.

Van Halen released their first album in 1978. Rockhall.com reports the original members included brothers Alex and Eddie Van Halen, along with their friends Michael Anthony and David Lee Roth. Their self-titled album won critical acclaim and the attention of fans worldwide. Featuring several hits, including “You Really Got Me,” “Running with the Devil,” and “Ain’t Talkin’ ’bout Love,” Van Halen’s first album remains a beloved classic .

Following the release of several equally successful albums, front man David Lee Roth was replaced with Sammy Hagar. With the new front man, Van Halen released their first Number One album, 5150 .

Although the band’s lineup changed numerous times, Van Halen released 12 studio albums. Between 1982 and 2004, 25 of their singles reached the Top Ten.

The current lineup includes David Lee Roth, Eddie Van Halen, Alex Van Halen, and Eddie’s son, Wolfgang.
