Usher’s son Usher Raymond V was taken to the ICU at an Atlanta hospital after a pool accident Monday.
The accident happened around 6 pm. The 5-year-old was playing in the pool with his aunt when he saw a toy in the drain. He dived under the water to pull the toy out and his arm got stuck in the drain . The aunt tried to free him, but was unable to. The maid then tried to help, but was also unsuccessful. She screamed for help and two men who were working in the house came out. They went into the pool were able to get the boy’s arm out of the drain.
The child was given CPR and rushed to the hospital. Usher and his ex-wife, Tameka Foster, are currently with him at the hospital, according to TMZ. Doctors said the boy will be okay and expected to make a full recovery.
Last year, Usher’s stepson Kile Glover died after being injured in a jet ski accident. The 11-year-old and a 15-year-old girl were on an inner tube being pulled by a pontoon boat. Family friend Jeffery Hubbard ran over the children with a personal watercraft. Investigators concluded that alcohol was not involved in the accident. Kile Glover suffered a serious head injury and was declared brain dead . He was placed on life support, but died on July 21 of heart failure.
Foster claimed that Usher faked sympathy over his stepson’s death , claiming that he only visited Kile once in the hospital. The former couple were going through a nasty custody battle at the time of the accident. Foster accused her ex-husband of being an absentee father, and Usher accused her of being unstable and inattentive. Usher was granted primary custody of the former couple’s two children, Usher V and 4-year-old Naviyd Ely, in August 2012. Foster retained some custodial rights, but the extent of her rights were unclear.
