Police in Texas have released a dramatic 911 call showing how two teenagers rescued a kidnapped woman after she mouthed “help me” to them from the backseat of her car.
According to NBC 5 , the 25-year-old woman was kidnapped in downtown Dallas after leaving her office building.
New York Daily News continued on to say that, about an hour after the initial kidnapping , the woman and her captor where traveling on a road Seogoville about 20 miles south when they caught the attention of Aaron Arias, 19, and Jamal Harris, 17.
The teens noticed the woman sitting in the back of the car and saw her mouth the words “help me.”
It was at that point that the teens called the police, and officers rescued the woman within minutes.
“Yes, I’m on the highway,” Aaron Arias first told a Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office dispatcher. “I’m witnessing a robbery; not a robbery — a kidnapping.”
“It’s me and another guy, so we’re checking out the girl in the backseat because, we’re like, ‘OK, she’s kind of attractive,’” Arias said. “And then, all of the sudden, you know, the guy is turned back, looking at us.”
Arias continued on to tell police that the woman looked panicked and started mouthing to them for help.
While still on the phone, the teens followed the car down US 175 until police caught up with them in Kaufman.
The New York Daily News report continued on to say that Arias shouted to the dispatcher that police had arrived:
“Thank God. You guys are awesome! Oh my God. Oh my God. Get him! Oh my God!”
Charles Atkins Lewis Jr. was arrested and charged with aggravated kidnapping. He was being held on $50,000 bond.
After the Dallas kidnapping victim was pulled to safety, Arias told reporters that she gave both teens a hug and thanked them for all their help.
“I would describe it as the best hug I have ever gotten,” he said.
