That was the Thanksgiving for the six-year-old Suri Cruise, who got to spend the first time with her father Tom in months. As Us Weekly reported, Tom Cruise and Suri were together in London during Thanksgiving while Tom is in the UK shooting All You Need Is Kill. Tom reportedly sent a family member to pick up Suri in New York City.
The Thanksgiving meeting for Tom Cruise and Suri was the “first time he’s seen Suri in a long time,” a source told Us Weekly . Katie Holmes had been granted custody of the couple’s only child after their quick divorce in August, but Tom Cruise has been in regular contact with Suri since then.
“He calls Suri every day, sometimes twice a day,” attorney Bert Fields told E! News . “He loves Suri and is a constant presence in her life,” Fields explained. “As in the past, when he’s shooting in a foreign country, he has to rely on daily phone calls.”
The situation has left Tom heartbroken, his friend Christopher McQuarrie told People , but Cruise and Katie Holmes have been working hard to make sure that Suri’s needs are met and she has regular interaction with both parents.
“They are all about co-parenting,” a friend of Katie Holmes said in September.
The fact that Tom Cruise, and Suri were together at the the holidays was a boost to the 50-year-old actor. As the Contra Costa Times reported , the last time father and daughter were together was August 5, when they spent a weeklong vacation together.
