Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Blacklist transformation trailer has snuck in for the kill!
Not bad for a game that started as a series of crime novels; Tom Clancy’s espionage video game series began with Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six , defining for many of us what a stealth game was supposed to be. Unlike some missions in game series like Metal Gear , Hitman , and Assassin’s Creed , the Tom Clancy games actually have you working in the shadows and trying to avoid detection, or risk wasting firepower as the whole army comes down on you. Of course you always have the option to just go in Rambo style as well. It’s up to you.
Blacklist adds something new to Sam Fisher’s arsenal as you are now able to use the “killing in motion” technique. This allows you to run along and kill enemies in quick succession without pause.
Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Blacklist also integrates the Xbox 360’s Kinect peripheral and its voice option so you can say things to distract the guards, luring them in for the kill. This could be fun if you fancy yourself a comedian. It might even be possible to use the Kinect sensor to control the character with your body instead of the gamepad. Ubisoft practically threw in the kitchen sink with this one.
This sequel to Splinter Cell: Conviction has US President Patricia Caldwell disband the now corrupt Third Echelon as Sam Fisher is promoted to the Fourth Echelon and the President calls the shots directly. A group of terrorists who call themselves “The Engineers” execute a series of attacks on US assets in a countdown they call the “blacklist,” and it’s up to Sam Fisher and his old ally Anna ‘Grim’ Grímsdóttir to take them out.
The trailer for Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Blacklist tells us, “The ‘blacklist’ cannot be stopped by law, not by diplomacy, not by an army. To defend the lives of millions, I’ll become what you fear most. I will make you believe I am everywhere. And I’ll do it my way.”
