Tom Brady knows how to pick ’em, whether it be a target down the field for the New England Patriots or a horse in the Kentucky Derby . The three-time Super Bowl champion attended the historical race at Churchill Downs on Saturday and cashed in on Orb’s big win.

After Orb crossed the finish-line, Brady celebrated with his former teammates Wes Welker and Teddy Bruschi in the stands. The three NFL stars were hugging, screaming, cursing, and jumping all over each other as Brady made a sizable bet on the winner.

The 35-year-old bet $4,700 on Orb to win and he raked in $25,000 once the thoroughbred did just that, according to the Boston Herald . The reaction says it all and the Patriots’ superstar enjoyed every minute of it.

Before the celebrating ended, Welker jumped on top of the pile and looked just as excited as anyone, including Brady. With Welker by his side, there is obviously no tension between Brady and his former wide out who signed with the Denver Broncos this offseason.

Tom Brady’s great day at the Kentucky Derby can be credited to Orb, the bay colt from Stuart Janney III & Phipps Stable, who made a late move to cross the finish-line before any of the other 18 competitors on a muddy day at Churchill Downs.

Orb lost the first three stars of his career before winning five straight and he hopes to keep that streak alive at the Preakness on May 18th.

Tom Brady wasn’t the only person that Orb’s victory benefited, as respected trainer and Louisville native Shug McGaughey won his first ever Kentucky Derby. The 62-year-old will continue training Orb as they prepare for a shot at the triple crown of horse racing.

Tom Brady will get back to his day job, taking snaps for the New England Patriots, but before he does here’s video of his celebration after the finish on Saturday. Watch as Bruschi rushes in from the left and Welker leaps on top of the pile.
