A toddler was forced to pee in her airplane seat on a JetBlue flight Monday when the crew ordered her to stay seated, FOX News reports. The 3-year-old girl was on a flight with her mother from New York to Boston. The flight was delayed, waiting on the runway for takeoff when Summers had to use the bathroom, but she was denied access to it. So, the girl urinated in her passenger seat.
Speaking with CBS Local in Boston, Summers’ mom — Jennifer Devereaux — explains that the flight attendant yelled a second time as soon as she got out of her seat to clean up the mess:
“And I said, ‘please give me a break. My daughter had an accident because you wouldn’t let me take her to the bathroom. After I clean it up I will sit down.’ She turned around and reported it to the pilot.”
Moments later, the pilot got on the intercom system and announced that any non-compliant passengers will taken to security.
Devereaux recalls being nervous at that point, but an off-duty pilot sitting two rows in front of her helped diffuse the situation. He stood up for the frustrated mom and her daughter. Devereaux felt immediate relief:
“I am so thankful for him and other passengers sticking up for my family’s defense.”
Deveraux says she wrote a complaint letter to JetBlue after her daughter was forced to urinate in the seat, all because she was denied access to the bathroom. Part of the letter reads:
“I want an apology and I don’t want them to do this to any other family. I want this behavior to be stopped.”
A spokesperson with JetBlue says the airline will reach out to Jennifer Devereaux and released this statement:
“We are aware of the complaint and are actively investigating. Our team will be reaching out directly to the Customer to gather more information.”
JetBlue sent a tweet to someone questioning their way of handling the toddler and her mother on the airplane. It reads:
“… there are very strict FAA regulations when a plane is on the tarmac.”
Traveling with a toddler, or any small children, can turn into a nightmarish ordeal in some cases. The Inquisitr has reported on sticky situations when it comes to kids traveling on planes. Several are controversial, such as the article about a toddler reportedly so unruly, that the airline had to remove the child. This took place on a JetBlue flight as well. The airlines defend their decision removing the family because FAA rules were being violated.
