Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are heading back to the Golden Globes.
According to The Hollywood Reporter , Fey and Poehler signed a deal that will see them host the awards show for the next two years.
NBC president of alternative and late night programming Paul Telegdy said:
“Tina and Amy are two of the most talented comedic writer/performers in our business, and they were a major reason the Golden Globes was the most entertaining awards show of last season… We’re elated they wanted to host together again and that they committed for the next two years.”
The Golden Globes attracted 19.7 million viewers last year with Fey and Poehler taking on hosting duties. It was the biggest audience for the awards show in six years. Fey and Poehler have plenty of experience in front of a live audience and they also have close ties with NBC. Fey starred on the station’s 30 Rock and Poehler currently stars on Parks And Recreations.
Hollywood Foreign Press Association President Theo Kingma added:
“We are thrilled Amy and Tina have decided to return as hosts of the Golden Globe Awards for the next two years… Their return ensures that the Golden Globes will once again be the biggest, best and most entertaining awards celebration of the year.”
Fey and Poehler have been rumored for the Oscars hosting gig but that’s unlikely now that they’ve committed to the Golden Globes. Fey also seemed disinterested in the idea of hosting the Academy Awards, saying: I think the Oscars is just such a bigger task… to sing and dance and do the pre-taped segments and all that stuff.”
