Tim Tebow may be on his way out of the NFL after the Jacksonville Jaguars rejected rumors that the quarterback was headed to his hometown team.
After a disastrous season with the New York Jets in which he only played 71 snaps, the quarterback is almost assured to be released or traded. The latter option seems to be growing more distant, after the general manager of the Jacksonville Jaguars quashed talk that the team would go after Tim Tebow.
Sources had previously told ESPN that Tebow would return to his hometown of Jacksonville, but new general manager David Caldwell denied that he would go after Tebow at his introductory news conference Thursday.
“I can’t imagine a scenario in which he’ll be a Jacksonville Jaguar — even if he’s released,” Caldwell said.
With the Jaguars out of the equation, many analysts think there are no teams left that would go after Tim Tebow — and the media circus that follows him. With the Jets, the media followed Tebow since the beginning of training camp, turning an already fractured team into a soap opera at times.
The New York Times NFL blog says that Tebow has run out of options in the NFL, and many analysts believe his next stop will be the Canadian Football League. Tim Tebow also could retire to focus on his other interests — which include ministries and overseas aid work — but the quarterback is notorious for his work ethic and competitiveness, and likely won’t give up on the NFL for quite some time.
