In an horrific incident which was caught on camera in New Castle County, Delaware, a mentally disabled man of 26 was beaten up by three teenagers, aged 13 to 14.

The teens involved were arrested some time after the incident, which went viral on social media.

The arrests came when the suspect’s parents complained about receiving threatening phone calls about their sons after the video of the incident went viral on the internet.

While the teens were released to the custody of their parents on a $2,500 bond, and put under house arrest and parole, the beating of the clearly disabled man is a disturbing one.

As Tracey Duffy from the New Castle County Police said to reporters about the arrests,”We’ve received a number of telephone calls, 911 calls as well as calls to officers people know.”

The victim’s mother, Yana, also spoke to the press about what happened to her son, and the thoughts that went through her mind when see first viewed the footage, “Rage, anger – because of the situation, with him being mentally disabled, he doesn’t do anything to anyone but be kind,” she said.

The victim, Karon, was apparently attacked for no good reason and his body was slammed to the ground and punched and kicked repeatedly while other excited teens filmed the action on their phones.

Because he has Williams Syndrome, Karon has the mental capacity of a second grader.

Angeliz Marrero, a teen who lives in the area, expressed her anger about the incident, saying, “I was so mad, but at the same time, the first thing I thought was, ‘I have to do something about this,’” she said.

Angeliz took out her iPhone and re-posted the footage of the attack with the hashtag #TheBullyProject; it received 2,000 Instagram follows in just 24 hours.

As she told reporters, “It spread so fast and I’m just so grateful for everybody that’s helping me out because if it weren’t for everybody helping, supporting and everything, this wouldn’t even go viral and that man really deserves justice.”
