Microsoft is expected to finally launch the hotly-anticipated Surface Pro 4 on October 6. The Verge has the news .

“Microsoft has started inviting media outlets to a special Windows 10 devices launch next month. The software giant is holding a press event in New York on October 6th to unveil a range of hardware running Windows 10.”

The Verge says that all hints lead to the launch of the Surface Pro 4, the follow-up to the extremely successful Surface Pro 3 laptop/tablet hybrid. However, they also claim that there won’t be a huge difference in the design of the Surface Pro 4 when compared to the Surface Pro 3.

“Microsoft’s Surface Pro 4 won’t be a drastic change from the Pro 3 as the company has promised to keep the charging mechanism and overall form factor similar for businesses that have invested in accessories like the docking station.”

However, as the article notes, it doesn’t mean that the internals will be the same. There are some rumors that Microsoft’s Surface Pro 4 will also have a 4K screen. Two versions of the Surface Pro 4 are expected to be unveiled — one with a 12-inch screen and another with a 14-inch screen. Both of these are expected to be powered by Intel’s upcoming Skylake processors.

Though many are excited about the launch of the Surface Pro 4, Microsoft is also expected to launch new Windows 10 phones. DailyTech talks about Microsoft’s attempt to revitalize their Windows smartphones. They note that Microsoft is expected to announce two new Windows 10 phones, the Microsoft Lumia 950 (Talkman) and the Microsoft Lumia 950 XL (Cityman). Microsoft is also expected to launch a new smartwatch called the Microsoft Band 2.

Tech Times recently reported on the alleged specs of Microsoft’s new Lumia smartphones .

“When it comes to specs, meanwhile, the Lumia 950 is expected to sport a 5.2-inch display with a QHD resolution (2560 x 1440 pixels) and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor, while the larger Lumia 950 XL will feature a 5.7-inch display with QHD resolution and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor.”

The article adds that both flagships are expected to pack 3GB of RAM, 20-megapixel PureView rear cameras, and 5-megapixel cameras for selfies. It also notes that The Lumia 950 XL is expected to boast advanced biometric technology with an Iris scanner. These phones could give Samsung and Apple a run for their money.

2015 could easily be seen as Microsoft’s comeback year. Not only has the Surface Pro 3 gained commercial acceptance, but the recently-released Microsoft 10 operating system has made Windows relevant again. Microsoft’s October 6 event will be very exciting for the tech industry.
