Director David Fincher’s newly released trailer for his upcoming movie, Gone Girl , is making waves in the entertainment world. Gone Girl stars Ben Affleck as Nick , a man whose wife (played by Rosamund Pike) disappears on their fifth wedding anniversary.

The Gone Girl trailer opens up with Richard Butler’s She in the background as we see glimpses of scenes of the couple in a seemingly happy marriage, with shots of arguments bleeding through from time to time. Scenes that are in turn chilling and tender keep us guessing. Is Nick looking for his wife in desperation because he hopes to find her alive, or because he already knows the Gone Girl is dead? Ben Affleck’s character states, “I did not kill my wife. I am not a murderer.” Though that is his claim, we cannot help but believe otherwise, when presented with clues peppered throughout the Gone Girl trailer, such as the wife floating underwater, and a broken table that points to a violent altercation.

Gone Girl is based on the best-selling novel by Gillian Flynn. If you have already read the book and think you know a thing or two about the plot of Gone Girl – think again! David Fincher asked Flynn to rewrite the end of the book for the movie, and she agreed. No matter how familiar or unfamiliar you are with the Gone Girl story line, we will all be in suspense until the very end.

If you are looking for more detailed information than the Gone Girl trailer reveals, you can hop on over to E! Online for a detailed breakdown of the trailer compared with the plot line from the novel. Tread carefully, though, if you don’t want TOO much information!

While we can’t yet determine if Ben Affleck’s character on Gone Girl is a hero or villain, his next starring role will leave nothing to the imagination. Affleck will be filling the role of Bruce Wayne, aka Batman, in the new film Batman Vs. Superman , with Henry Cavill as Superman.

Gone Girl is slated to be released on October 3rd of this year. Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike are joined by top Hollywood names such as Tyler Perry, Neil Patrick Harris (of recent How I Met Your Mother fame), and Missi Pyle, to name a few.

Gone Girl is promising to be a thriller to delight the most fickle of horror genre fans. Take a look at the Gone Girl trailer below to form your own opinion.
