Teresa Giudice is headed to prison for her federal fraud conviction, the Real Housewives of New Jersey star learned Thursday.

Joe Giudice was hit with 41 months in prison, more than three years. After a long break and some statements to the court asking for lenience, Teresa Giudice was sentenced to 15 months.

Teresa and Joe arrived in federal court on Thursday at 9 a.m., with Teresa wearing a black pant suit and her hair down.

During sentencing, the judge admonished the Giudices for lying about their assets.

Under federal guidelines, Joe’s recommended sentence was 37 to 46 months while Teresa’s was 27 months. Under their plea for three counts of bankruptcy fraud , the couple was also required to pay $200,000 to the government at sentencing.

After baring much of her life for public consumption on Real Housewives of New Jersey , Teresa Giudice had her sentencing go down without any cameras present. No audio or video recordings were allowed in the federal courtroom, though the sentencing was open to the public.

Teresa Giudice tried to appeal for leniency ahead of the sentencing. As TMZ reported , the Real Housewives of New Jersey star asked a judge to give her community service and home detention instead of jail time.

There could be more trouble in store for Teresa and Joe Giudice. Because Joe moved to the United States from Italy and never became a U.S. citizen, he was facing the prospect of deportation.

Sources say Teresa Giudice would likely remain in the United States if her husband is sent back home.

“Teresa absolutely won’t be moving to Italy with Joe if he does get deported,” a source told Radar Online . “Her life is with her girls in the United States. The kids don’t speak Italian. How will the marriage survive is anyone’s guess at this point.”

Joe was reportedly ready for deportation going into Thursday’s sentencing.

“He has been told by his lawyers that he should be prepared to be deported back to Italy after serving his prison sentence. There was hope he could avoid being deported on a technicality, but immigration officials are ready to begin the proceedings. This is a high profile case and the feds don’t want to be viewed as going easy on Joe. But he won’t be deported until he finishes serving the prison sentence.”

Both Joe and Teresa Giudice made the most of their remaining freedom in the days before their sentencing. The Real Housewives of New Jersey star and her husband reportedly met with friends this week to celebrate their remaining time, with sources saying they were all smiles as they ate cake and joked with friends.
