Telltale Games’ has been teasing the details of its Game of Thrones episodic game series for the PlayStation and Xbox consoles, plus the PC, long enough. The developer revealed the house and plot behind the game for the first time Tuesday, including news that it has exceeded its usual allotment of episodes.
Telltale’s Game of Thrones will follow the lead of HBO’s television series as it mines George R.R. Martin’s universe for characters not yet seen on TV or the books but are considered part of the canon. The first episode, Iron From Ice , will take place around the time of the end of Season 3. The remaining five episodes will run all the way through the end of Season 4. Those familiar with the show will know a major event happens at the end of Season 3 that tears House Stark apart and shifts the balance of power in the North.
That brings us to the minor noble house that will provide the five playable characters for Telltale’s Game of Thrones . House Forrester is a minor house in the North that serves as Bannerman to House Glover of Deepwood Motte, who in turn pledges loyalty to the Starks.
This naturally sets up the source of conflict within Telltale’s Game of Thrones with Forrester being loyal to a house that has fallen following the events of Season 3. “You will play the game from five different points of view,” Telltale wrote on its website . “Each character you play as is a member of House Forrester; either a direct family member, or a person in service to the House. Scattered across Westeros and Essos, each character will play their part in seeking to save House Forrester from destruction.”

Telltale previously teased the antagonists for the series as the Northern bad guys that everyone loves to hate, House Bolton. With their ascension to power in Season 4, it will be interesting to see which characters of that particular house will play the foil with Roose and Ramsey primarily occupied with other issues on the show.
Still, playing five different characters is a first for Telltale as well as the expansion to six episodes from its normal five. It also allows the game to explore locations like King’s Landing and The Wall plus all new and unfamiliar areas like Ironrath, the home of House Forrester.
“Playing as five characters not only reflects the epic scope of Game of Thrones , but is also something that the player needs to be mindful of. This is because the actions of one character can ripple out to affect the rest of House Forrester. Multiply the actions of one character by five, and you’re truly playing the Game of Thrones … where you win, or you die,” Telltale concluded.
