Bobby Woods, a 17-year-old father-to-be from Texas, stands accused of drowning his pregnant girlfriend’s 3-year-old nephew in a pond in order to make room in the home for his new baby. Police claim that Woods admitted to throwing the preschooler into the pond, despite knowing that he could not swim. It is then alleged that Woods turned his back and walked away as the child screamed for help.
The Daily Mail reports that 17-year-old Bobby Woods has been arrested on charges of murder after he told police officers that he wanted his girlfriend’s 3-year-old nephew, Mason Cuttler, to die. Police claim that Woods told authorities that he wanted the young child to die so that there would be room in the home for his new baby.
The deranged teen allegedly pushed the small child into a pond knowing that he could not swim. He then allegedly turned his back on the struggling preschooler and walked away as the child begged for help.
“He said he pushed the child into the pond, then turned his back and made no effort to rescue the boy as he cried for help.”
Police reports indicate that Bobby Woods was one of three families living in a home together and feared with 3-year-old Mason in the home, there would be no room for his baby. According to CBS 19 , tiny Mason Cuttler’s body was pulled from a pond near Lufkin, Texas after he went missing from the family home as his parents did some cleaning. The pond was located behind the family home.
The parents of the deceased child, Kevin Cuttler and Brandi Wonzer, made a public statement regarding the death of their son and took time to thank all the law enforcement officers and volunteers who helped with the search efforts when Mason first went missing. The family said they had no further comment wanted some time to grieve for their son and attempt to heal.
“Thank you to the departments, law enforcement agencies and volunteers for your help in our time of loss,’ they said in a statement Friday. We need time to grieve and try to heal.”
The Angelina County Sheriff’s department notes that they received help from the Texas Rangers and Lufkin Police Department during the search and indicated that the investigation was ongoing. Woods is currently being held on charges of capital murder of a child under the age of six.
