Back in 2008, the K-pop scene was primarily dominated by three groups: Wonder Girls, Girls’ Generation, and Super Junior. Jump ahead to the present, those three groups are back on the K-pop scene after bands like Big Bang, EXO, and Bangtan Boys (BTS) have made a name for themselves.

Out of the three, Girls’ Generation is getting the most attention because of the fact Jessica Jung is no longer a part of them. Still Wonder Girls shouldn’t be ignored either. If Girls’ Generation is willing to proclaim them their biggest rival this year , then Wonder Girls are still a K-pop threat despite their time away from the limelight.

While both girl groups work off of each other, using each other’s history to boost their comeback promotions, Super Junior has been moving forward following last year’s album Mamacita . Now, their hard work is being rewarded as their latest album Devil has reached No. 1 overall on iTunes in 10 Asian and European countries.

According to AllKpop , Super Junior released their special album on July 16, 2015. Prior to its release, they built hype for it by showcasing its featured track, which the album is named after, via music video on YouTube and other streaming sites (attached below for viewing).

The “special” status of the album – being a work celebrating Super Junior’s tenth anniversary in the K-pop scene – also helped with sales causing it to reach number one overall in iTunes charts for 10 European and Asian countries. They include Hong Kong, Macau, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Finland, and Slovenia.

It should be noted the above are just the countries in which Devil reached number one overall on the chart. If we were to list countries that had it on their top 10 or top 100 of iTunes, the list of countries would be a lot longer. However, KpopStarz did provide some other statistics worth noting. Just for the pop genre, Devil reached number one in 13 countries which are the aforementioned 10 plus Mexico, Columbia, and Japan. Also, for all the Asian countries that had Devil reach No. 1 on iTunes, it was also No. 1 on iTunes K-pop charts for them as well.
