Suicide Squad won’t be released to theaters until August of 2016, but there is plenty of buzz already surrounding the film. One of the biggest reports to recently come out is in regards to Jared Leto’s performance as Joker.

On his Instagram account, blogger Umberto Gonzalez stated that he has heard a “hot rumor” about Leto’s performance.

“Sources are telling me that Jared Leto is going all out for his portrayal of the Joker in Suicide Squad [and] that he is staying in character behind the scenes on set. I’m also told his performance will rival if not surpass Heath Ledger’s portrayal of the Joker.”

This news comes a few weeks after the Inquisitr reported that the first image of the Suicide Squad version of the Joker had been released. The picture, seen above on the left, shows the iconic villain with tattoos all across his body and fake teeth. The image divided fans , but it was later revealed that Leto would actually not look like that in Suicide Squad . Reportedly, there have been some behind-the-scenes images that have leaked, and those can be viewed below.

Leto has also been giving fans a little tease of how his character will sound in Suicide Squad . At a 30 Seconds to Mars concert, the Oscar-winning actor reportedly used the voice to silence a heckler. Hypable reports that it wasn’t the first time the Suicide Squad actor teased the voice to concertgoers. Footage of one of the concerts where the voice is teased can be seen below, but it’s best not to watch it at work or around children due to language.

Batman fans already know that it will be tough for any other actor to best the performance Ledger gave in The Dark Knight . Ledger, who died before the film was released in 2008, won a posthumous Oscar for his role. Leto has already won an Oscar for his work in Dallas Buyers Club , so there is a good chance that his performance in Suicide Squad could be just as good as Ledger’s in The Dark Knight .

Fury and End of Watch director David Ayer is helming Suicide Squad , which also stars Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Viola Davis, and Scott Eastwood. The film hits theaters August 5, 2016.
