Stevie Nicks just came off of an extended tour with Fleetwood Mac, but that doesn’t mean the singer has any intention of taking it easy in the near future. To the contrary, Nicks, who has often taken opportunities to pursue her solo side projects, has just announced plans to head back out on the road for yet another tour. This time, Stevie will be touring without Fleetwood Mac, but she won’t be alone. Ms. Nicks will be getting together with The Pretenders for the 24 Karat Gold Tour.
Stevie Nicks Announces Her 24 Karat Gold Tour
Los Angeles Times shared the news that Nicks, separate from Fleetwood Mac, made the announcement on Tuesday that she’ll be embarking on a solo North American tour, set to begin at the end of October. Stevie’s 24 Karat Gold Tour, which is named after her 2014 album, will visit 27 cities. The album offered up newly recorded versions of her classic hits with tracks re-introducing songs originally recorded as far back as 1969.
One might wonder why, two years later, Nicks has decided to tour with this album, which is essentially a greatest hits package. Stevie is refreshingly honest, as she explains that the 24 Karat Gold Tour is more for herself than for her fans. She’s afraid of getting bored.
“I just woke up one morning and said I have two years off before Fleetwood Mac comes knocking on my door [for another tour],” says 68-year-old Nicks. “Why would I want to sit around and do nothing?”
In 2014, Stevie Nicks reunited with the rest of Fleetwood Mac’s most iconic members for a highly successful reunion tour, which they called the On With the Show Tour. That tour wrapped up in late 2015, but once again reunited for a summer appearance at Dodger Stadium this summer.
The Pretenders will be opening up for Nicks, though they haven’t had a new studio release since 2008’s Break Up the Concrete . Most recently, Pretenders front woman Chrissie Hynde released a solo album in 2014, which was entitled Stockholm .

Stevie never meant her solo side project to thrive as well as it has done through the years. It started out with plans for just one album, Bella Donna , but, as she explains to New York Times , her passion for songwriting caused that solo career to flourish through the decades.
“In the beginning, I actually sat down and said, listen, I am doing this because I have way too many songs,” Ms. Nicks said. “I get frustrated because one of you walks by me every time I sit at the piano and says: ‘Oh my God, there she goes writing another song. We only need three or four from you.’ So what am I supposed to do?”
What began as a single album soon became a discography of eight solo albums and a series of tours. The latest tour, Nicks’ 24 Karat Gold Tour, promises to be the most inclusive of them all with Stevie performing hits spanning her singing career.
In sharing the details for the tour, Billboard reveals that the Stevie Nicks/The Pretenders 24 Karat Gold Tour will kick off on October 25 in Phoenix, Arizona, at Talking Stick Resort Arena. The final of the 27 dates will be on December 18 at The Forum in Inglewood, California.
