Steve Harvey has sat down with everyone from Tyra Banks to Honey Boo Boo and her family, so it was only a matter of time before the talk show host, comedian, and actor climbed up the ranks and interviewed President Barack Obama .
Set to air on December 20, Harvey has sat down with President Obama to discuss a more casual affair of topics including family, fatherhood, and President Obama’s plans for the holiday.
Speaking with a local NBC affiliate in Washington, Steve Harvey elaborated on the experience of getting to interview the president just moments earlier at the White House.
“Isn’t that unbelievable? Sitting down with the President is something I’ve always dreamt of doing, and I am honored to have the opportunity. I’m grateful to President Obama for welcoming me and I’m thrilled to share this experience with all my viewers.”
For Steve Harvey he felt as though the two connected on a human level, as the men discussed a mutual loss in their separate families. Harvey commented:
“The greatest moment in that interview for me was he was talking about his grandmother, who he misses so. he passed in her eighties and my mom passed in her eighties.”
The interview with President Barack Obama is bound to score Steve Harvey enormous ratings for his talk show. Then again, he isn’t exactly hurting for ratings either. Harvey is only in his second season of his talk show and has already experienced an enormous amount of success. He has spent four weeks straight climbing the ratings. Currently Harvey’s daytime show brings in 2.5 million daily viewers.
The success of Steve Harvey’s show was indicated earlier in the second season when the show made its second premiere on September 16. Harvey, always wanting to set himself apart decided to bring on the show 654 eligible bachelors to stage the largest first date.
