Steve Carell from “The Office,” is returning to the small screen, but this time he will be producing instead of acting.

Carell will executive produce the new comedy series on Fox, which stars the “Daily Show” correspondent, Jason Jones.

The new comedy has yet to be titled, but as reported by The Wrap the comedy’s theme is about a single man who has avoided his family for quite some time until he suddenly has to care for one of his sister’s children after she is called back to military duty.

Also executive-producing alongside Carell is Chris Weitz of “Twilight: New Moon” and “American Pie.” The show will be produced by 20th Century Fox Television. Via his Carousel Productions, Carell is executive-producing along with Carousel’s Thom Hinkle. Also from Depth of Field, Weitz’s production company, Andrew Mian will be executive-producing the show.

Jason Jones will act as the sole writer for the production.

Steve Carell had been on the “Daily Show with Jon Stewart” for five years before starring in the dead-pan comedy “The Office,” in the late 2000’s, where he came into greater fame. The actor is known for slapstick and deadpan humor, but is not at all considered to be a cynic with his comedy or in his life, according to The Hollywood Report .

Since “The Office,” Carell has starred and co-starred in a number of films and has elevated his career significantly.

Carell’s production company, Carousel Productions, contracted a three-year deal with Universal Media Studios, which is the studio responsible for his NBC comedy series.

The actor will be back on the big-screen with his projects “The Incredible Burt Wonderstone” and the “Anchorman” sequel “Anchorman: The Legend Continues.”
