Longtime friends to George Clooney, Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber have reportedly now become the actor’s new roommates, while they share their Cabo home with George and Amal.
Although the Clooney’s previously owned their own vacation spot in Cabo not far from Crawford and Gerber, George and Amal decided to sell up and move on in with their good friends whenever they are at their favorite vacation spot. An insider who is close to Clooney shared reasons with ET for the sale of the Ocean’s Eleven star’s large getaway home in Mexico.
“When George was single and living a wilder lifestyle, having that big house for all his parties made sense. But now he’s settled down with Amal — those days are behind him.”
A temporary option for the couple is to now stay at veteran supermodel Cindy Crawford’s dwelling in the gorgeous locale.
Clooney recently listed his incredibly lavish Cabo home which was also featured in Architerctural Digest. IBTimes details just how expansive and luxurious the former party-home of Clooney is.
“Clooney has put the house up for sale and is expected to get $50 million for it. The luxurious house has seven bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, sea-facing swimming pools and many other amenities. The website also writes that Gerber and Clooney’s houses were designed by the late Ricardo Legoretta, who was a world-famous architect.”
The publication notes that Gerber and Clooney are good pals and own Casamigos Tequila, a liquor brand, together. Amal and Cindy have also got on very well with one another. Originally, however, George and Rande wanted to build their own home to share in the vacation destination long before Amal entered the scene. Cindy wasn’t a fan of the idea seeing as Clooney was still a bachelor.
In an interview with Hello Magazine , Gerber shared details of this original intention and Cindy’s response which led to the building of two separate houses.
“But George was single at the time and we have the family, and Cindy said, ‘Hmm, I don’t think that’s such a good idea. Let’s build two houses,’ It’s all still on one property, so it’s like breakfast at George’s place, lunch at mine. It feels like one big party.”
Gerber also made mention of the fact that their tequila brand came in handy to celebrate a three-day-long fiesta after the nuptials of Amal and George. In addition, Cindy’s beau seems to be of the opinion that Amal has coped quite well with all of the new media attention she now receives since marrying the A-list actor. At the moment, however, George and Amal have made New York their long term place of residency but are content to have a place to stay while back in their go-to vacation destination.
