St. Louis Rams Beat Seattle Seahawks, Issue Statement To NFL

St. Louis Rams fans are enjoying another win over the Seattle Seahawks. The Rams beat the Seahawks 34-31 on Sunday, September 13, taking the season opener in overtime. The team had to make a great comeback, scoring a late fourth quarter touchdown to force the overtime period. In the extra session, Rams quarterback Nick Foles marched the team down the field for what ended up being a game-winning field goal.

Foles finished with 297 yards and a touchdown on the day, escaping the Seattle defense without throwing an interception. He helped construct five drives that led to points for the Rams, coming through with several clutch plays in overtime to help finish off the Seahawks. Though the offensive line had trouble protecting him at times, Foles made the most of the weapons he had to work with.

This was a very important win for the St. Louis Rams, as it comes against the team most experts have picked to win the NFC West. Getting a leg up in the head-to-head tie-breaker is a big way to start the season, but it also puts the team into first place for now. Starting out 1-0 after trailing several times in the Week 1 game is certainly a great way to rebound and move on. Rams head coach Jeff Fisher will certainly have the team ready to compete for a division title now.

During the NFL offseason, the Rams made a huge trade with the Philadelphia Eagles to exchange quarterbacks. In addition to receiving Foles in the deal, the Rams also got Philadelphia’s fourth-round pick in 2015 and second-round pick in 2016. St. Louis gave up a fifth-round pick in 2015 and veteran quarterback Sam Bradford to complete the deal. So far, the deal appears to have worked in favor of the Rams, especially with a win over the two-time defending NFC champions in the game for Foles.

The defense of the Rams deserves some credit for this victory as well, because the line stopped Marshawn Lynch on a 4th-and-1 play to end the game. It was a very similar play to the one that the Seahawks had in the last Super Bowl, where coach Pete Carroll decided to have Russell Wilson throw the ball. Now, the analysts who said Lynch should have run the ball may have to re-think that opinion. For St. Louis Rams fans, though, the time has arrived to celebrate and enjoy sitting in first place.
