Sia Explains Why She Hides Her Face And It’s Not To Copy Lady Gaga

Singer Sia made headlines last weekend with her performances on Saturday Night Live .

Between the two dancers that performed during “Elastic Heart” and the mime who stirred emotions during “Chandelier,” Sia indirectly provided viewers with a lot to discuss on their social media pages.

However, one of the biggest hot topics from her performance had nothing to do with her “assistants.” On the contrary, it was her veiled face that raised questions and comments.

Many people seem to think that she wants to be just like Lady Gaga.

Pretty sure Sia is just a Lady Gaga stunt.

The truth is, though, that Sia’s appearance and concealed face has absolutely nothing to do with Lady Gaga.

In a July 2014 interview with Chris Connelly from Nightline , Sia came clean about why she refuses to show her face on television – including interviews.

“I don’t want to be famous or recognizable. I don’t want to be critiqued about the way that I look on the Internet.”

The Chandelier singer continued by explaining the moment when she realized that she was achieving her goal of staying under the radar in the public eye.

“I was at Target the other day buying a hose and nobody recognized me and my song was on the radio. And I thought, ‘Okay, this experiment is working.’”

During the same interview, Sia discussed her successful songwriting career – which includes such hits as Beyonce’s “Pretty Hurts” and Rihanna’s “Diamonds.”

“I’ve been writing pop songs for pop stars for a couple years and see what their lives are like and that’s just not something I want.”

The fact that the 39-year-old Australian singer’s history in this music industry started back in the late 90s and early 2000s also speaks volumes when it comes to the Sia vs Lady Gaga debate.

Even though the 2014 hit single “Chandelier” tossed Sia into the mainstream spotlight, she has been impressing fans with her music for many years undetected and in the background. Perhaps that is where Sia is the most comfortable.
