As the winter weather takes a turn for the worse across the United States, drivers are striving to take extra precautions on the highways — at least most drivers, that is.

Boston News reports that one driver decided to take his life in his own hands when he got behind the wheel of his pickup truck around 6:25 a.m. on Sunday while intoxicated. The 33-year-old Bostonian by the name of Vannak Sao actually drove his truck off Interstate 93’s overpass, and in a manner that seems to be a scene from The Fast and the Furious .

Traffic cameras captured the moments as Sao lost control of his vehicle and recorded him slamming into a light pole. The action continues as CBS reports he also hit an exit sign and a chain link fence without slowing down and eventually taking a nose dive onto the highway below him. Miraculously, no one was hurt, as he barely missed a car as his pickup tragically hit the ground.

Sao admitted to police that he had been drinking liquor at a friend’s house and that combined with being sleepy was an accident just waiting to happen. Boston reports that Sao has been previously charged with speeding five times and at fault for two car accidents, and has now been charged with operating under the influence of alcohol and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.

He does not deny that his actions were completely irresponsible and told CBS, “I have to accept the consequences of my actions.”

The Bostonian attributes his sleepiness to a new job which has him working third shift and he has yet to adjust to his new schedule. Sao knows, however, that he is lucky to be alive and that he didn’t kill anyone else.

After plummeting approximately 60 feet, Sao woke up in the hospital with a fractured nose and a swollen eye.

Sao has watched the video a couple of times, and firmly believes that if it weren’t for the paramedics, the firefighters, and the police who worked to get him out of his pickup and rushed to the hospital that he wouldn’t be alive today.
