Sherri Shepherd and her husband Lamar Sally have announced that they will divorce after less than three years of marriage. They intend to do so before the birth of their unborn child, which is due at the end of July.
Sally filed for the separation last week, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split. On top of that, Sally is requesting primary legal and physical custody of the unborn child, a boy to be named Lamar Sally Jr.
The court documents, filed on May 2, note that despite his custody demands, Lamar does want Sherri Shepherd to be granted full visitation rights. Shepherd is already a mom to a 9-year-old son called Jeffrey, from her first marriage.
Back at the end of the summer in 2011 the daytime talk show host swapped vows with Sally in Chicago. At the time the happy couple revealed to reporters that they intended to add to their family and had found a suitable surrogate:

We’re starting the process of making sure the uterus that we picked is not crazy. I put out there that I would give someone a free weave for a year and a free Hyundai. Literally, we’d be at the club and these girls would be like ‘I’ll carry yo’ baby.’ I don’t think so…So, it’s been a journey trying to sift through the ones with drama and no drama so I think I have one, but I’ll definitely keep everyone updated.
Even though the couple had been keeping very quiet about their marital issues, rumors of a split began to circulate more recently. It seems those rumors turned out to be true.
Almost by way of an announcement, Shepherd more or less confirmed the divorce rumors when she Tweeted on Thursday: “Don’t underestimate the power of friendship… friends are the soft landing when you fall… I love you both @JawnMurray & @BoneHampton.”
It seems that Hollywood celebrities just never learn their lessons about marriage.
Despite the fact that most of them tie the knot, then promptly untie it, costing themselves a fortune in legal fees, there is no shortage of celebrity break-ups in the news. It seems Sherri Shepherd and Lamar Sally are just following the trend.
