When you first hear about a gas station bathroom, what is the first thing that you think about? Is it unsanitary conditions? Disease-infested cesspool? Coagulation of blood, urine, and fecal matter? Something worse? If you are like most Americans, you will do your best to avoid using any questionable public restrooms, let alone one located at a gas station. You know those right? The ones that at times you need a key connected to a jalopy hubcap to unlock? Yeah — those.
For television personality Jason Godfrey, he had the “privilege” to experience a bathroom at a Shell Station located in the Philippines. It is very surprising when you see what he experiences.
Before we continue on, it should be known that the Philippines is a third-world country located in the eastern Pacific. It is a country riddled with poverty and corruption. Pollution and uncleanliness are very common in the streets of Manilla, the country’s capital. Summarized, what the Philippines has makes the filthiest back alleys of Chinatown in New York City seem like the Waldorf Astoria.
So when television personality and model, Jason Godfrey used a gas station in the Philippines, you’d probably expect the worst of the worst of the worst. Apparently, what Jason saw was so ridiculous, he recorded it on video, which you can view below.
Isn’t that amazing? Why can’t the U.S. gas station bathrooms look as accommodating and welcoming as the one Jason Godfrey had the pleasure of using? As you can see from the video above, there is lavish wood paneling, beautiful portraits hanging on the walls, magazines and books to read, and a fan (something which is necessary because the Philippines can get HOT!). Jason even mentions that the bathroom smells like “super menthol,” a fragrance denied to all us viewers since we lack smellivision.
Now to be fair, the bathroom was built in a gas station located in Bohol, Philippines, one of the big islands out of thousands that make up the country. Not to mention, Bohol is just like the province areas of the Philippines. That means it is more rural consisting of greenery and cleanliness. It is the big cities and similar urban areas that are associated with the third world problem of uncleanliness.
Nevertheless, Jason Godfrey’s discovery is such a big deal, many news outlets such as ABC News , RYOT , and the New York Post have reported on it. Now that you’ve seen what Jason experienced, what do you think? Are you jealous?
