The victim of an SF tourist shooting has left a mother grieving and in a state of disbelief. Kathryn “Kate” Steinle, 32, was shot dead in the San Francisco tourist attraction’s waterfront.

Wednesday evening at Pier 14, Kathryn had been out strolling with her father where most people go to take in the view, walk the dog, and have their usual jog for exercise. A gunman had shot her, though she didn’t immediately know it. It is unclear if her father had any idea until she began pleading him for help.

Kathryn had told her father she didn’t feel well and then collapsed before asking him to help her. According to Tucson , her father tried to give her CPR as paramedics were alerted. They rushed Kathryn to the hospital where she fought for her life, according to her mother, Liz Sullivan.

“I don’t think I’ve totally grasped it.”

The SF tourist shooting victim wasn’t the only one affected by the one authorities believe to be responsible. The suspect in question, Francisco Sanchez, had allegedly mugged two news reporters, pistol-whipping a camera operator. He then allegedly proceeded to take the cameras from KNTV and KTVU before jumping into a black BMW and fleeing the scene.

Some witnesses at the scene had allegedly taken pictures of Sanchez after the shooting , which authorities used to identify the suspect. Police arrested him a few blocks away as he was walking on the sidewalk an hour later.

Kathryn, who had just moved to the area after having lived about a half hour east of San Francisco, worked for a medical technology company. Authorities have stated that she did not know the suspect.

Sanchez is a 45-year-old Texas transplant on probation for an unspecified crime. Police are still waiting for a fingerprint identification on the suspect, according to Fox News .

Kathryn Steinle, the SF tourist shooting victim, will always be remembered in the hearts of friends and family. May Kate rest in peace.
