Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) has responded to Donald Trump’s criticism of the Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, saying that Trump’s sexism is “as obvious as his bad hair.”
Speaking in a telephone interview with the Boston Globe , the Massachusetts senator criticized Trump over recent comments that Clinton was playing “playing the woman [gender] card.”
According to the GOP presidential front-runner during a question and answer session with media reporters following his primary victories, the former secretary of state wouldn’t have so much support if she were a man.
“Well, I think the only card she has is the woman’s card,” Trump said . “She’s got nothing else going on. And frankly, if Hillary Clinton were a man, I don’t think she’d get 5 percent of the vote. The only thing she’s got going is the women’s vote.”

According to Senator Warren, Trump’s comments about Clinton only reveal his personal weaknesses, which include his glaring sexism.
According to Warren, asking whether Trump is sexist is like “asking if he has bad hair.”
“I hoped you were going to ask me if I thought he was a sexist. That’s like asking if he has bad hair,” she said.
“He wears the sexism out front for everyone to see,” she added.
“[Asking if Trump is sexist] is like asking if he has bad hair. He wears the sexism out front for everyone to see.”
Warren continued, “Donald Trump clearly feels threatened by Secretary Clinton’s qualifications to be president so he’s attacking Hillary Clinton for being a woman. That’s what weak men do.”
When she was asked how female candidates could conduct themselves to avoid being accused of “playing the gender card,” Warren advised female candidates not to be deterred or intimidated by accusations of “playing the gender card,” but to work hard and give their best.
“Just get out there and do your job every day,” she said.
Despite widespread criticism of Trump’s comments he has not backed down on the statement. He repeated the comments on Thursday in an interview with the Today show.
In the live phone interview with Savannah Guthrie and Matt Lauer, Trump said he stands by his earlier comments about Clinton, but took care to say repeatedly that he respects women.
“Without the woman’s card, Hillary would not even be a viable person to even run for city council positions,” he said.
“I think the only thing she has going for her is the fact that she’s a woman. She has done a terrible job in so many ways,” he added.
Trump’s comments were liable to backfire, and as expected, Clinton’s outraged supporters took to social media to express their feelings.

Many pundits have argued that Trump made a mistake attacking Clinton by accusing her of playing the gender card because it has only given his Democratic opponent opportunity to use his words against him and portray him as sexist.
As Kathleen Parker writing on the Washington Post noted, political ads showing clips of Trump making unguarded comments against women have proved to be very effective.
And Clinton’s campaign has responded adroitly by sending pink-colored “woman cards” designed to look like credit cards to her campaign donors.
“Well, if fighting for women’s health care and paid family leave and equal pay is playing the woman card, then deal me in,” Clinton declared.
Although Warren has so far refrained from endorsing any of the Democratic presidential candidates, she has criticized Trump consistently and accused him of seeking to promote his personal brand at the expense of the country.
