Selena Gomez has been fighting back pregnancy rumors for some time now, but now she’s taking back power — with a bikini picture.
The singer and actress took to Instagram to share a picture of herself wearing a skimpy yellow bikini while enjoying the sun on a beach.
Gomez also included an inspirational message with the picture.
“Taking my power back,” she wrote, adding, “can’t wait to show you where I’ve been. I love y’all. Ps, I still obsess over pickles.”
Selena Gomez had little control over the past few months, going through a whirlwind year that included a canceled tour and a hush-hush rehab stint.
Gomez even released a statement to fans at the time apologizing:
“My fans are so important to me and I would never want to disappoint them. But it has become clear to me and those close to me that after many years of putting my work first, I need to spend some time on myself in order to be the best person I can be.”
But Selena Gomez has still had difficulty taking control. While she didn’t directly address it in her Instagram post, many viewed her reference to recent rumors of a 2012 pregnancy .
“She wanted that baby. She was convinced it was meant to be and that it was a sign that she and Justin should be together forever,” a source told In Touch magazine.
The reports said that she had gotten pregnant during a relationship with Justin Bieber, but ended up miscarrying. But Gomez and her reps have denied the rumors, and continue to this week.
Gomez said she’s now ready to take control once again.
“Until recently I had given into that pressure, I lost sight of who I was,” Gomez said to California kids in a speech at Oakland’s We Day youth empowerment event in March. “I listened to opinions of people and I tried to change who I am because I thought others would accept me for it. And I realized I don’t know how to be anything but myself.”
The measure to take back control seems to have worked for Selena Gomez. The Instagram picture has been shared thousands of times, and picked up by celebrity news outlets nationwide.
