Sean “Diddy” Combs was arrested Monday for allegedly assaulting another person with a weight-room kettlebell. Diddy was working out at the athletic facilities of UCLA, where his son plays football, a statement released by the university claimed, when he attacked the UCLA football coach with a kettlebell.

In that statement, UCLA police allege Diddy was arrested on three counts of assault with a deadly weapon, one count of making terrorist threats, and one count of battery. These crimes might be prosecuted as a felony. But Diddy has a different story – he was acting in self defense, and he was arrested erroneously .
“The various accounts of the event and charges that are being reported are wholly inaccurate,” Nathalie Moar, a representative from Combs Enterprises, said in a statement to The Associated Press reports MSN . “What we can say now is that any actions taken by Mr. Combs were solely defensive in nature to protect himself and his son. We are confident that once the true facts are revealed, the case will be dismissed.”
Jail records indicate that P. Diddy was released from lock up late Monday after he posted bail, which was several hours after his arrest, reports MSN . It’s not clear who started the fight, and officials will not say who was allegedly assaulted or what led to it. Authorities did say that no one was seriously injured after Diddy was arrested.
UCLA football coach Jim Mora said in a statement following the incident, “I’m thankful that our staff showed the level of professionalism that they did in handling this situation” reports the Examiner . “This is an unfortunate incident for all parties involved. While UCPD continues to review this matter, we will let the legal process run its course and refrain from further comment at this time,” Mora continued.
The jail records show that Diddy’s bail was set at $160,000, but sheriff’s officials told reporters that he posted a $50,000 bail. The reason for the discrepancy isn’t clear. Diddy has a court date scheduled for July 13.
As previously reported by the Inquisitr , internet searches for the word “kettlebell” shot up after Diddy was arrested for assault . Google reported that “more than 200,000 searches for the word kettlebell came into their search engine on Monday, June 22.”
It’s not clear which party was at fault, and it seems both Diddy and Coach Mora have both been arrested for assault in the past. Mora’s charges were reduced to harassment, and Diddy was acquitted of weapons charges, reports the Inquisitr .
