Scotty McCreery took a break from his tour this week to play a very special gig — the Sweet 16 for Duck Dynasty star Sadie Robertson.

The American Idol winner from Season 10 flew to Louisiana for a day filled with typical Robertson family activities. Other than the concert he put on for Sadie , he engaged in some off-roading with brother John Luke and ate some fried shrimp and banana pudding prepared by Kay.

Scotty McCreery even got some help on stage. When he performed the bluegrass hit “Man of Constant Sorrow,” Duck Dynasty stars Willie and John Luke joined him on stage.

“That was pretty funny,” the 19-year-old McCreery said.

After that, he got down with some dance party music, cutting it up on the dance floor with Sadie.

Scott McCreery was a pretty safe bet to perform for the overly protective family. His squeaky clean image is sure not to draw the ire of watchful father Willie, who once vetoed Sadie’s choice for a prom dress because it didn’t fit his liking.

McCreery gained fame for his incredible run to win American Idol in 2011. Then 17, McCreery was one of the show’s youngest champions.

McCreery’s gig with the Robertsons was said to go off without a hitch.

Sadie summed up the personal concert by tweeting : “This boy made my birthday the best day of my life! So thankful that he came down for my party!”

Not all appearances for the American Idol champ have gone so smoothly. Last summer he was opening up for Brad Paisley at a concert in New York when he took a wrong step near the end of the stage, tumbling down to the ground .

McCreery was covering Travis Tritt’s “T.R.O.U.B.L.E.” when the misstep occurred, but he got right back up and continued singing .

Maybe Scotty McCreery should stick to Duck Dynasty gigs from now on.
