Former Stone Temple Pilots singer Scott Weiland has addressed the question of whether or not he could ever see himself returning to his former band, asserting that the future remains uncertain.

Weiland made the comment while being interviewed on the syndicated radio talk show, Rover’s Morning Glory , according to Blabbermouth . When queried about his relationship with the other members of Stone Temple Pilots, and if he would consider returning to the band, Weiland seemingly left the door open to a future collaboration, but admitted he isn’t currently communicating with his former bandmates.

“You never know about the future, but I don’t have any… I’m not in touch with them now.”

The Stone Temple Pilots and Weiland parted ways most recently in 2013, when it was announced that Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington would be taking over vocal duties. Weiland was asked whether or not it was strange to see someone else singing songs he made famous with the Stone Temple Pilots, and despite claiming that he feels no ill will toward Bennington, he acknowledged that the situation is odd.

“Yeah, it’s strange. It’s definitely strange. I know Chester. I’ve known him for a long time, and he was a big fan of mine. I remember, when we played… toured together, he told me that I was one of his biggest influences.”

Recently, Weiland made headlines when video of him performing Vasoline with his solo band emerged online. The performance was widely criticized, as the Inquisitr previously reported, and many fans openly questioned whether Weiland was sober in the clip, or had returned to using drugs (his representative denied that drug use was a factor).

This week, Weiland also found himself involved in a controversy regarding the PledgeMusic campaign used to fund his most recent album, Blaster . As Loudwire reports, 25 fans who donated $500 to the record’s production received a megaphone purportedly used by Weiland on stage and signed by the singer. Some fans now assert, however, that they were victims of a “bait and switch,” given brand new merchandise instead of stage-used devices. Several expressed dismay online after finding “Made in China” stickers still inside the megaphones, with factory packaging within the battery compartments. Neither Scott Weiland nor his representatives have commented on the situation at this time.
