Scott Stapp, the lead singer of Creed, recently posted on Facebook that he is penniless and that he believes that both the CIA and DEA are out to get him.

Right now, it appears the singer may be living out one of his hit songs. In I Cry Out To God Stapp sang, ‘ I cry out to God…Seeking only his decision…Gabriel stands and confirms…I’ve created my own prison.’

Creed sold 40 million albums worldwide. They were the ninth highest selling band of the 90s. In 2001, they took home a Grammy for their hit With Arms Wide Open.

Stapp recently posted a grainy video on Facebook. He looked haggard. In this video he issued what he called “Public statement number 1.” In the video he spoke about, “slanderous, libelous rumors over the last few weeks.” Those rumors included a death hoax and allegations he had drug issues and was headed to rehab.

“I’m sober as can be,” said Stapp, 41, said.

Stapp says that eight weeks ago, he performed an audit of his finances and he believes that a lot of money was stolen from him, including royalties, reports The Daily Beast.

“In the last few years, I’ve rededicated myself to Christ,” Stapp said, tearing up.

“I want my son to know, Jagger, that your dad is sober. No drugs, and no alcohol. This is a vicious attack…over the last four or five weeks, all of a sudden the IRS has frozen my bank accounts two or three times to leave me completely penniless,” Stap said with great emotion.

Stapp claims that he has been the victim of identity theft and that someone changed his passwords and transferred all of his funds out of his accounts.

“Right now, I’m living in a Holiday Inn by the grace of God, because there’s been a couple of weeks that I’ve had to sleep in my truck,” he said. “I had no money—not even for gas, or food—and I went two days without eating because I had no money, and ended up in an emergency room,” Stapp said.

In the past, the majority of Stapp’s problems can be directly linked to alcohol and drug abuse. These issues increased with the pressure of balancing fame and the responsibility of being a single dad.

“Basically, Scott was a cool, normal guy. But fame caused the biggest destruction of his personality. The more power he got, the more corrupted he became,” said former Creed engineer Kirk Kelsey in a Rolling Stone interview.

Stapp’s dealt with a lot of issues over the years, but recently things have really fallen apart. His second wife has filed for divorce. She says he disappeared in early October and was ingesting amphetamines and steroids, reports CBS.

It appears that Stapp is dealing with paranoid delusions, something he has dealt with in the past. According to TMZ, a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office representative said a wellness check was conducted at Stapp’s home last week. After speaking to Stapp’s wife officers were satisfied the situation was under control.

“The truth will prevail,” Stapp promised in his video.
