A school bus with “pentagram” lights has become a point of heated controversy in Cordova, Tennessee. As evidenced in a photo taken by Robyn Wilkins, the brake lights do indeed resemble five-point stars. It is unclear why the bulbs are arranged in an unusual pattern. However, the Tennessee mother is convinced that the pentagram-shaped lights are the work of the devil.
Wilkins was stopped behind the Durham Services school bus when she looked up and saw the pentagram lights. As a mother, and a Christian, the woman said she was terribly disturbed.
As reported by Latin Post , Wilkins took a photo of the unusual lights so she could share it with others. In her opinion, “anyone who fears a God, if not God and Jesus Christ, should be outraged.” Wilkins said she was specifically concerned, as the lights were placed “on a public school bus used to transport children. ”
Citing laws preventing the display of religious symbols in public schools, Wilkins said “if you can’t put a cross on there, you cannot put a pentagram on it.” She plans to petition Durham Services to replace the school bus’ pentagram lights with solid red lights.
Marsha Hudson, who also lives in the Cordova community, is confused about the unusual lights. However, she does not believe they are meant to be satanic symbols.
WMC Action News reports that several parents have complained about the questionable brake lights , but neither the school district nor Durham School Services have commented on the situation.
As explained by Symbol Dictionary , the five-pointed star , or pentagram, is often misunderstood as a symbol representing Satan or black magic. However, pentagrams are found throughout history in “almost every ancient culture.”
“It has been important to almost every ancient culture, from the Mayans of Latin America, to India, China, Greece, and Egypt. It has been found scratched on the walls of Neolithic caves, and in Babylonian drawings… Scriptures, especially Hebrew, are abundant with references to pentagrams.”
Robyn Wilkins is concerned, as she believes the pentagram lights were intentionally turned upside-down. Therefore, she is convinced that they represent evil .
Inverted pentagrams have been associated with Satanic beliefs . However “it is just as likely to be Masonic, Wiccan, or simply upside-down.” Indeed, it is entirely possible that the school bus’ pentagram lights were inadvertently placed in the wrong direction. Unfortunately, some members of the Cordova community are not convinced.
